Gocco PG-11

Okay, long story, but I wanted one of these back in June. I figured I’d wait until my birthday in July. Unbeknownst to me, production of Goccos of any sort was discontinued [again] as of end of June/beginning of July, and by the time I was officially on the market, prices has had gone way up and availability had gone way down. I looked and looked, followed some leads to dead ends, and finally (and triumphantly!) both found and acquired a fabulous Gocco PG-11. Don’t even ask about my method of acquisition (leave it at the extraordinary efforts of good friends and friends of good friends), but, long story short, I proudly beheld my PG-11 for the first time this past Monday. Anyway, here it is, now I’ve just got to figure out how to use it…

You should tell the story of how you got it. It’s amusing and well worth telling.

And in doing so also include what the heck it is. Cuz I have no idea why you went to great lengths to get one.

As for the rest of the story: Like I said, I had been looking for a used Gocco for some time, as new ones were no longer available, but most were way overpriced and just plain unavailable once I found them. I finally got lucky and found this one while it was still available, but the catch is that it was in San Francisco and I am in San Diego. Well, I work with this guy, Matt, who has some peeps in SF and he got someone to drive all sorts of miles to pick this thing up, pay for it, and ship it down here, no questions asked. It finally arrived last Friday, Matt brought it into work on Monday, and I brought it home Monday night. Now I need to acquire screens, bulbs, ink, and skills so’s I can go about using it. I’ll keep everyone updated.
