BibliOdyssey recently posted a beautiful book of silk paintings from 1920s showing all different festivals held in Kyoto, Japan during The Showa Period (the reign of Emperor Hirohito 1926-1989) They are like updated  Hokusai paintings. Great line, wonderful color palette, simple and spare. Some even look like classic animation cels (so not to disrespect the fine art quality of these paintings but I would love to see these scenes animated!)
