Flickr Friday: Lydia Lys Mysterious Masks

This week’s Flickr Friday features the photo stream of illustrator/art director Lydia Lys from Paris, France. Lydia does work for books, newspapers, magazines and more. All of her work is well designed, even the illustrations where she uses a combination of college and drawing. I like that she uses animals in her work as well as a common theme of masks which I find mysterious. You can view her photo stream here and check out her portfolio site as well.

Flickr Friday: grtblueheron

Grtblueheron, or Mary Shea, is an old friend of my from Massachusetts College of Art. I recently checked out her Flickr page to what she’s been up to. I really like these two photos. The first photo, taken through a screen, is great. I really like the effect and the yellow and greens are incredible. The Second photo is of Mary’s grandmother. At first glance I thought it looked a bit sad and lonely, but at second glance I think it has more of a contented feel. The composition is shows her grandmother at the bottom of the photo allowing space for us to see her home and therefore learn more about her.

Flickr Friday: Erik Nitsche’s Photostream

These images posted in Erik Nitsche’s Photostream are of various General Dynamics ads and annual reports from the 1950′s. The photostream is maintained by BustBright in Los Angeles as a personal inventory of Nitsche’s work as well as a service for the design community. For those who don’t know Nitsche was a contemporary of Lester Beall, Paul Rand and Saul Bass. For more information about Nitsche check out this biography by Steven Heller.

While searching around the interwebs for a nice tut on how to make an iPhone app I came across iv_orlov’s photostream on Flickr. Completely unrelated to what I was looking for yet delightful. I really enjoy the color pallets and texture that each piece has. There’s a lot more too: see more here.
